Common Questions

What tattoo styles does OC Tattoo offer? Our artists work in a wide range of styles including fine line, script and lettering, traditional and old school, Japanese, biomechanical, floral, realism and portraits, minimalist, and geometric. We also do full custom designs based on your idea.

What's the difference between a new tattoo, a touch-up, and a cover-up? A new tattoo is original work on clean skin. A touch-up refreshes color or line work on an existing tattoo that's faded or healed unevenly. A cover-up redesigns over an old or unwanted tattoo so it blends into a brand new piece.

Can you cover up an old or unwanted tattoo? Yes. Cover-ups take more planning than a new tattoo since we have to work with the existing ink, size, and placement. Bring a photo of the old tattoo and we'll go over realistic options during your consultation.

Where on my body can I get tattooed? We tattoo just about anywhere, including arms, back, wrist, ankle, chest, thigh, rib cage, and calf. Some areas are more sensitive than others, and our artists can walk you through what to expect for the spot you have in mind.

How big can a tattoo be? Sizes range from small pieces around 1 to 3 inches, like a finger, wrist, or ankle tattoo, up to medium pieces on the forearm or shoulder blade, large pieces on the thigh or upper back, and extra large work like full sleeves or full back pieces.

Do you offer fine line tattoos? Yes, fine line is one of our most requested styles. It works well for minimalist designs, small tattoos, and detailed linework.

Do you do Japanese style tattoos? Yes, Japanese traditional is one of our specialties, along with Asian art and anime inspired pieces.

Do you do realism or portrait tattoos? Yes, our artists do realism and portrait work, including portraits of loved ones and pets.

How much does a tattoo cost? Pricing depends on size, placement, detail, and style, so we quote after a free consultation. Our shop minimum is $80.

Do I need a consultation before booking? We offer free design consultations. Just call or text us your idea and we'll go from there, no appointment required to start the conversation.

Do you take walk-ins or do I need an appointment? Both. We're walk-in friendly seven days a week starting at noon, and appointments are also available if you'd rather lock in a specific time. If you're walking in, a quick call ahead helps confirm an artist is on site.

How far in advance should I book? If you need something soon, let us know. We can often accommodate same day or next day requests depending on the artist and design. For larger or more detailed pieces, booking a few days to a week out gives us time to prep the design.

What areas do you serve? We're located in Westminster, off the 22 freeway and minutes from the 405, and serve customers throughout Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, and the rest of Orange County.

What payment methods do you accept? We accept all major credit cards, Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, and cash. There's an ATM on site for your convenience.

How will I hear back about pricing and availability? The fastest way is to call or text us directly. We'll get back to you with pricing, artist availability, and next steps.

Q: Do you accept walk-ins for tourists and out-of-town travelers?

A: Yes, absolutely! We welcome visitors from all over the world daily. If you are staying at a hotel near the Anaheim Resort District or Buena Park, our clean, sterile studio is just a short 10–15 minute drive straight down the highway. Walk right in for quick flash art, piercings, or minimalist vacation keepsakes!

Q: Can I get a tattoo or piercing if I am spending the next day at a theme park?

A: We usually recommend stopping by our studio after you have finished your big theme park days, or on your last night in town. Roller coaster harnesses, sweat from walking in the sun, and park water rides aren't ideal for fresh ink or new piercings. Our artists will provide you with a full tourist aftercare routine so your souvenir heals perfectly on your trip home.
